Picking the 15 best meta Brotato weapons isn’t an easy task since there are 62 different characters in the game at the moment and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. However, there are some weapons that act better than others overall. If you don’t want to miss the most important tips around playing Brotato, make sure you check out our Brotato beginner’s guide.
Since it’s obvious that legendary weapons are really OP and stronger than most available out there we decided not to list them. We will present what we believe are the best weapons currently in Brotato that are also fairly easy to get in the shop. There’s no point talking about how Chain Gun is great if you see it only once in 20 games.
SMG
SMG can be called a universally great weapon as most characters that can use ranged weapons, can make a good build with it. Its fire rate and damage are decent from level 1 allowing you to clear weak enemies and pick up that valuable material.
Since it fires a lot of shots it scales great with attack speed, crit chance, and piercing stats. Always, and we mean always, buy Shap Bullet and Bandana when playing with SMGs as they will pay out big time. Additionally, if you get 50+ attack speed, consider getting life steal as well since more shots per second give you a bigger chance to heal per hit.
Circular Saw
Circular Saw is great for melee-oriented builds, even if you don’t go for the full six-stack of them. With its base 45% life steal it will be more than enough to keep you healed up in the fight. even if you only have one.
If you do however decide to stack these saws you get both the Blade and Medical weapon class bonuses which means plenty of melee damage, life steal and HP regen per second. Builds with one or more Circular Saws are great for beginners as the weapon’s natural healing helps avoid deaths.
Shredder
One of our favorite weapons to start the game with is Shredder. Not only does it have a chance to explode on attack (on level 4 every shot explodes), but it also pierces 3 enemies for 100 damage.
When you’re planning on creating a ranged build that will partially or fully rely on explosive weapons, make sure to grab Shredder as a starting weapon because it will signal to the game that you’re onto these weapons and will give you more Shredders in the shop. From our own experience in making diverse builds, one or two of these weapons are enough to clear out the hordes and prevent you from being overwhelmed.
Nuclear Launcher
Even though you won’t see a Nuclear Launcher in the shop as often as you’ll see some other weapons from this list, it’s important to note that it is perhaps the most powerful weapon out there on level 3.
It has a great fire rate and massive damage that clears hordes of aliens in no time. The weapon scales with both ranged damage and elemental damage so it means that you can fit it nicely in your SMG build as well as the Wand build.
Furthermore, any build would benefit from this weapon as it’s a great standalone killer. Just give it a small bump with an investment in attack speed and you will see that your gameplay will suddenly become much easier.
Quarterstaff
Quarterstaff is a great weapon for those looking to play the long endless run with their favorite spud. This is because this weapon carries with it a % XP bonus gain and damage that scales with your level. Long story short, higher-level Quarterstaff gives you more XP bonus, the more XP bonus the more you level up, and the more you level up the more devastating your damage is.
Because Quarterstaff is a thrust-and-sweep weapon you can keep an eye out for items or other weapons that can help your build clear hordes. But, with enough damage and attack speed, this mighty stick will be enough for most danger levels.
Shuriken
Shuriken is a one-of-a-kind weapon that you can miss easily if you don’t pay close attention to it and its stats. Namely, this is the only weapon that is ranged but scales with melee damage. On top of that, it has an interesting superpower.
Critical hits made with Shuriken bounce from 1 to 4 times (depending on the weapon’s level) which makes it one of the toughest weapons in the shop. Every new bounce is a new opportunity for both a critical strike and life steal.
Slingshot
Slingshot is a rare item that gives you bouncing projectiles right off the bat. Many other ranged builds would need the pretty rare Ricochet item to get this OP feature. And of course the more you level your Slingshot the bigger the number of bounces.
Each bounce of every Slingshot stone has a separate chance of triggering life steal and critical hit which gives this weapon an amazing potential. However, you would need to invest in damage percentage and especially attack speed to create a giant killing machine from your spud. One character that is really fun with 6x Slingshot build is Fisherman with his endless Baits that you can buy.
Obliterator
Obliterator well … obliterates. This massive damage item that deals 1000% of your ranged damage and pierces straight through enemies is one of the coolest level 3 items that you can find fairly often and without investing all your stats in Luck.
Even though some players don’t like it very much, we’ve found that every time we grabbed this dragon-like weapon, our whole gameplay changed drastically for the better. Enemies start dropping like flies and if you invest in Crit Chance when wielding Obliterator you have serious boss wiping power as well. It’s a great pick even if you didn’t invest too much in ranged damage as it can work great with most Brotato builds and strategies.
Power Fist
If a weapon is exploding it’s on our list. Kidding aside, this is one of the best options for any melee build out there since your exploding punches give you plenty of breathing room to walk around and collect that precious material.
As this exploding fist goes to shop only in level 3 and level 4 shape, you won’t be seeing it early often. But, make sure you use and level up the regular Fist weapons to increase your chance of getting the Power Fist. What is really useful is the fact that level 3 Power Fist has the same damage output as level 4 Fist which means you can swap it out without losing anything.
Wrench
An Engineer’s dream weapon whose main potential lies in its turrets and strategies built around them. Wrench is a pretty simple weapon but it gives your gameplay a new touch since the damage output is now switched from your hands to these randomly spawned automated towers.
If you decide to go for a 6x Wrench build we suggest you rush to get one level 4 Wrench as soon as you can since that one gives you the Rocket turret with explosive damage. After that, you can go ahead and level up other Wrenches equally as at least one explosive turret will give you great fighting capabilities when fighting hordes.
In a classic Engineering build dilemma between Screwdrivers and Wrenches, we think Wrenches are always better since turrets bring more damage output and value on the battlefield than mines.
Potato Thrower
Shooting potatoes doesn’t sound so scary and interesting, especially when you see that it is a supporting weapon that gives you Harvesting as a bonus. However, you’re looking at one of the best weapons in the game.
Since the weapon scales with ranged damage and your maximum HP, it can be paired nicely with Ghost Scepter which gives you HP as you rack up kills on it. Potato Throwers are great late-game weapons, especially for one of the best Brotato characters – Demon. He has the best potential for going into endless mode and diving into insane levels you never thought were reachable.
Ghost Axe
Ghost Axe, and other Ghost weapons, have an amazing ability to endlessly scale, giving you more and more stats to stack up. With it, you’ll get +1% damage for a certain amount of enemies killed. And if you start it early, and reroll through the shop often to level them up, you can have a massive damage bonus in no time.
But, be careful as Ghost Axe builds will often be glass cannon ones where you are fighting in a high-risk high-reward kind of environment. You might melt the boss in 10 seconds but on the other hand, the boss might melt you in 5 seconds.
Still, with some experience in hand, you won’t struggle too much when playing with Ghost Axes and they will bring a lot of fun once that damage starts showing itself on the battlefield.
Flamethrower
Flamethrower is an excellent pick whenever you decide to go for an elemental build. And to make things even cooler, you only need one to get its main benefits so you can get whatever you want for the other 5 weapon slots.
Its main job is to set enemies on fire and let the elemental-based burn tick on them and kill them. This is super effective even from the early stages of the game because items that empower burning, like Scared Sausage and Snake, are of common rarity and can be found even in Wave 2 shops.
Thief Dagger
When we’re looking for the best Brotato weapon out there, we often think about their fun aspects or the massive damage output they can give us. But, there’s another important factor to consider when choosing your weapon, and that’s farming.
Thief Dagger has a high chance of giving you 1 material when you kill an enemy with a critical hit. This perhaps doesn’t sound like a cool thing right now, but when you think how many enemies you kill in one wave, and how many enemies are killed after 7, 8, or 11 waves for example you start to realize how a weapon like this one can be special.
The more material you farm, the more items and weapons you can buy, and the more rerolls will be available to you. In the end, making you stronger overall by allowing you to buy your strength.
Stick
If we were to choose the best Brotato weapons for beginners Stick would surely be No. 1. The simple bonus base damage you get with each additional stick and HP as the primitive weapon class bonus sets you on a great start when you’re just embarking on the world of spuds fighting aliens.
The Stick build can work for most characters in the game and when you decide to go for it your main job is to focus on getting attack speed and damage percentage. This will further improve your damage output and prepare you for those higher-level aliens.
