Welcome to this short Hearthstone Elemental tribe quick minion guide. We will try to be brief here as we have already covered Hearthstone Battlegrounds meta builds and elemental comps in our guide. In this article, you will find all Elemental minions explained and tips for each of them. As you all know, the usage of many minions in HS can be very situational, but we will try to cover the overall usefulness of and general guidelines for each Elemental minion.
Tavern Tier 1 Elemental Minions
Molten Rock
Molten Rock is probably the first Elemental that you will see in Bob’s Tavern. Although he is cheap, the unit is pretty much useless – the fact that it doesn’t have any kind of Divine Shield, Taunt, or Reborn combined with the stat boost of just +1 Health for each Elemental means that this unit will probably have 3/5 after few turns, and even that if you are lucky. Generally speaking, low-level elemental units in HS BG are not a good option so you should opt for another minion on this tier.
Dune Dweller
Dune Dweller is generally used for cycling and should be pretty much avoided in the early stages because selling it for 1 gold isn’t a very good value. Nevertheless, later on, if you happen to start generating elementals and when you have a lot of money, Dune Dweller is a very good cycling minion.
Tavern Tier 2 Elemental Minions
Snow Baller
Snow Baller works with the new elemental selling mechanics and it essentially is also used for cycling. Keep in mind that each time you sell Snowballer your future ballers will get one more health on your minions when you sell them. In effect, this means that you can play around Snow Baller and Fire Baller to gain a lot of stats by cycling them.
Fire Baller
FireBaller works the same as SnowBaller, and as we already mentioned, these two go hand-in-hand, do keep in mind that they share the “improve your future baller” cycling mechanic.
Party Elemental
Although Party Elemental looks like a tempo minion, it really is not. Giving +2/+1 for every Elemental played is something that can be beneficial but only to a certain degree, this should not be your main stat boost. If you are opting for a full Hearthstone Elemental build, you should focus on getting other key minions, not buffing up random low-level ones.
Sellemental
Sellemental is one of those minions that has huge versatility in terms of usage – it can be an economy minion but you can use it as a tempo minion once you get Rock Rock and/or Recycling Wrath. Standing at 3/3, this Elemental Minion in Hearthstone Battlegrounds is pretty useful and is a good option to go for early on.
Tavern Tier 3 Elemental Minions
Refreshing Anomaly
Refreshing Anomaly had a very big change and went from a Tier 1 with 1 refresh to Tier 3 with 2 refreshes. This means that essentially, even if you’re not playing elementals, getting this guy is very valuable since you get 2 free refreshes with him. Nevertheless, he is basically used for cycling and finding the crucial elementals, and that’s pretty much it.
Bountiful Bedrock
Bountiful Bedrock is more of an economy minion than an Elemental one. There are several Elemental minions that can give useful Battlecry abilities and Bountiful Bedrock is a good minion to have if you have space on board in order to get those more useful minions. He is very good, especially if you have a few of them on the board.
Sleeping Sea Glass
Sleeping Sea Glass is a brand new, HS BG Season 9 minion that can be either totally useless or a game-changer. This minion is not to be bought early on; however, once your Tavern is buffed up, you should get it, keep it on board until you can get a triple, and utilize his defensive abilities. Try to double only one of the stats every time as you will get more in total (don’t buff Attack on one, defense on the other, and defense or attack on triple, focus on just one).
Wildfire Elemental
Wildfire Elemental is the only source of some sort of Cleave in Elemental tribe in HS Battlegrounds and that’s why he is a must later on. Generally speaking, you will need a lot of space and sustain while you buff up your Elementals so you don’t need to get him early on – but later, you will need Wildfire Elemental on the left-most position as your main offensive power, especially if you can triple him with Elemental of Surprise.
Meteorite Crasher
Nothing too much to be said about Meteorite Crasher. As you already guessed, this guy works very well once you start selling and recycling your elementals. He will gain a lot of stats and be the bread and butter of your mid to late game power.
Felemental
Elemental isn’t really that much powerful since he doesn’t have a lot of stats and you don’t really get too much from his Battlecry. Nevertheless, he is fine if you have, for example, a Brann and you’re cycling Elementals for those extra Tavern stats.
Tavern Tier 4 Elemental Minions
Lil Rag
An old face in HS BG Season 9 is Lil Rag. This guy makes a comeback and has the same use as he had before – he is to be paired with Recycling Wrath in order to gain as many stat buffs per turn as you can. Note that his buffs are rather weak since you won’t be playing that many elementals early on – but in the late game phases, Lil Rage can scale quiet a bit.
Ichoron the Protector
Ichoron the Protector is pretty good, because if you have a lot of tavern stats and you’re cycling elementals, you will oftentimes end up selling a lot of stuff on your board and at the end of the turn playing new elementals that have a lot of stats because of your tavern power. This minion essentially fills that supportive role to give your elementals the divine shields they need.
Windfall Tornado
Windfall Tornado a very good value elemental because keep in mind that when you sell him you will Discover an Elemental. The most important part here is that you will “Discover” it, so you can get a crucial Elemental if you’re a tier 5 or tier 6 that can be a game changer for only 2 gold (and also gain a few stats on it).
Tavern Tier 5 Elemental Minions
Dancing Barnstormer
Dancing Barnstormer is an interesting one because he works with Bran as well as Titus. There is nothing too much to be said other than that this minion is one of the main engines that can power up your tavern throughout the whole game.
Gentle Djinni
Gentle Djinni, interestingly, has a similar idea behind it as Dancing Barnstormer. His effect also triggers by Battlecry and Deathrattle. So these two minions can work really well if you either have a Titus or a Brann. With Gentle Djinni you can get a lot of elementals and with Dancing Barnstormer you can get a lot of tavern stats. This can propel you into the late game pretty quickly.
Twilight Primordium
Twilight Primordium is less complicated than he looks. It is essentially good with Brann and if you already played a lot of elementals, aka if you already started cycling them. This will give you the extra stats you need.
Tavern Tier 6 Elemental Minions
Ultraviolet Ascendant
Ultraviolet Ascendant is the final piece of the puzzle in the elemental build. Basically, to cut it short, the more you cycle your elementals, the more powerful this effect will be, and that’s why you first need an engine that generates a lot of elementals or gold, then start cycling them, and finally, Ultraviolet Ascendant will be your late-game power.
Elemental of Surprise
Elemental of Surprise is the second Divine Shield option in Elemental tribe that you can go for. Getting him alone won’t change much, but considering that Elemental of Surprise is a late-stage minion, you will probably either have a buffed-up board of Elementals or buffed-up Elementals in Tavern (meaning that he will have higher stats). Whatever the case is, tripling, buffing, and providing Divine Shield is a great thing to do and you should definitely search for this minion.
Nether Construct
Nether Construct is a weird one because he works with demons just as well as he works with elementals. You can power up the tavern with him and that’s pretty straightforward but if you choose to consume all minions in the tavern do keep in mind that if you already powered up your tavern, you need to find more Elementals because they are the only ones that will have those juicy stats in the tavern.
