10 Games Like They are Billions [2024]

Games like they are Billions collage of all games

In this article, we will try to find the best games like They Are Billions that are still playable in 2024. Sure, TAB is one of a kind and there is no argument there; but we will try to find the games that are similar to They Are Billions at least in terms of either the atmosphere, the gameplay mechanics, or the general design. If you are still new to the game, you can check out our full They are Billions guide in case you need some extra tips. That being said, without let’s see the list of games like TAB.

Alien Marauder

So just imagine Starcraft thrown into They Are Billions world – that’s basically Alien Marauder. The game looks very, very similar to TAB. You have the same build the base-manage economy-build the walls- defend from the monster waves feel just by looking at it. If we were to judge by the looks of it, this would surely be our top pick. However, the game does have a few downsides as well. The first one is the fact that .. well it’s abandoned and the devs are not putting out any new patches. The second is that the strength of the waves is not the same as in TAB so that kind of ruins the challenge. Still, if you can get this game, you can try it for yourself and see how it feels.

Frostpunk

I know what you will say but hear me out – Frostpunk is very similar to TAB mainly because of that desperate, steampunk, survival RTS atmosphere although there are technically no monsters coming at you in this one. The whole point of this game is merely to survive the winter – and although that might seem easier than surviving endless hordes of zombies and other monstrosities, trust me it’s not.

The game is very much alive and has a huge fanbase; not only that, Frostpunk 2 is coming this fall so you should check that one as well. It’s very fun to play, it has great gameplay mechanics and the story as well as video aspect of the game is just top-notch although it’s an indie title. Feel free to try it out!

The Last Spell

Every night the monsters come and swarm your defenses. You build towers, units and heroes in order to stop them. When the dawn breaks, you can build structures and upgrade units and other things in the game. Sound familiar? Yeah, well this is The Last Spell – a roguelite, tactical RPG game that is similar to They Are Billions in it’s concept but .. that’s where the similarities end.

The whole atmosphere feels really different, from metal music ambient, to quirky, spellcaster world to endgame gameplay. However, it is close enough to deserve a place on this list so you should definitely give it a shot if you can.

From Glory to Goo

Another space version of They Are Billions is from Glory to Goo. Apart from a cool title, this game looks really nice – the basic premise is pretty much the same, you build your base, you have your soldiers to defend during the wave attack and to move into enemy territory to clear later on, and it’s pretty hard. From Glory to Goo is an RTS survival game that is available on Steam but be aware, the game is still in it’s pre access phase.

Night of the Dead

Night of the Dead is a mixture of several genres. First off all, the game is set in open world where zombies and other mutations have overrun human civilization. You wake up from a cryosleep and your goal is clear – you need to survive. You might think that this game is more like Left 4 Dead or Dead Island but it’s actually more similar to They Are Billions than you think – the whole point of the game is for you to find resources and set up your defense camp so that you can survive the waves of attackers. It is very engaging and it’s unique mixture of several genres offers a very specific experience. The game is available on Steam and it was released in 2024.

Starcraft 2

Starcraft might not deserve a place in this list but there are modes in it that are very similar to TAB. Even the multiplayer stuff, for example there is a mission called “Dead of Night” which is just awesome – during the day you build your base and clear the undead settlements and during the night, well, it’s all hands on deck as swarms of undead are coming from all directions. Furthermore, in the game you will find plenty of mods that resemble this type of game-mechanic so you might want to try it. Oh and the best thing about it – it’s completely free so you can play it right now if you want!

Age of Darkness: Final Stand

I mean this is just a clone of They Are Billions – just look at the game printscreen. The game has it’s differences but they are minor – everything in the game mechanics looks almost completely the same as TAB. You build the base, you build the walls, you even have same Balista Towers to build (which are OP btw) and the economy as well as research is the key to surviving. The game is definitely worth a try if you are a fan of these kinds of titles.

Riftbreaker

So, you are on an uncharted planet, getting attacked by hordes of aliens every night while you try to build the portal and escape the planet. That’s the basic premise of the story in Riftbreaker – another tower-defense, survival, RPG, RTS, shooter game. So as you can see, this game is a mixture of several genres including several components that make TAB what it is. The enemy design is just awesome and you will struggle to survive every time the enemies hit you. There are so many other elements to the game that we just advise you to give it a shot and see if it works for you.

Diplomacy is not an option

The more down to Earth version of They are Billion is the RTS survival game called Diplomacy is not an option. In this one, you are in charge of a mediaval town and are defending against invading forces. The cheerful enviroment is nothing like the menecing atomosphere that we were used to in TAB. However, the basic game structure is the same – you build, defend, research, build more and so on. Definetly worth a shot!

Conan Unconquered

The last game on our list is the one that really looks and feels like TAB the most – Conan the Unconquered. I mean there is no need to describe the game – except that it has the same feeling that you get in TAB. It is a very easy game to play – and a very hard to master. It’s the same type of game and you will enjoy it for sure. This one has one extra feature – it is available in co-op mode as well and that’s what makes it at least similarly valuable as TAB.
