Jacqui Briggs Mortal Kombat – Character Breakdown

Sergeant Jacqueline Sonya “Jacqui” Briggs or simply Jacqui Briggs is one of the newest characters in Mortal Kombat lore. Ever since her appearance in Mortal Kombat X comics and MKX video game, she became a fan’s favorite, especially because she is the daughter of the famous Jackson Briggs aka Jacks. In this article, we’ll breakdown another popular Mortal Kombat female character and reveal some of little know facts about Jacquie.

Appearance and the first impression of Jacqui Briggs in Mortal Kombat

Jacquie Briggs is a female Mortal Kombat character who first appeared in Mortal Kombat X. She is a child of her father Jax and her mother Vera, about whom little is known. They both have black skin and so does Jacqui. Her appearance as a strong, independent military specialist and later a sergeant in Mortal Kombat 11 is astounding. She has a seductive body with nice curves in all the right places. She is also a quiet beautiful young lady with amazing eyes in both MKX and MK11. However, her main weapons are her Power Gauntlets on her forearm, similar to Jax, who has entire arms made of steel. Since she is an officer and a special forces member, her outfits mostly feature military prints for females.

Jacqui Briggs has a different outfit in Mortal Kombat 11. Her body is covered with armor in Mortal Kombat 11, and her appearance has also changed. In Mortal Kombat X, her face is narrower and younger, while in Mortal Kombat 11, her face is wider and more realistic, just like all the other characters. Her personality is cocky, and she is full of fighting spirit in Mortal Kombat X. In Mortal Kombat 11, she develops a strong bond with her father. This is also one of the great twists with timelines, as timelines mix. She meets a young Jax, and there are intense exchanges between them, but the father and daughter story eventually concludes with a happy ending.

The story of Jacqui Briggs

As we’ve already mentioned, Jacqui Briggs is the daughter of Jackson “Jax” Briggs and Vera Briggs. After Jax was revived by Raiden, freeing him from being Quan Chi’s slave in Mortal Kombat 9. Feeling guilty for his actions under the influence of Quan Chi’s magic, he settled down with his wife Vera and they had a daughter, Jacqueline Sonya “Jacqui” Briggs. Jacqui developed a strong passion for fighting and became a member of special forces alongside Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, and Takeda Takahashi. Jax wasn’t entirely happy about her decision to join the military, knowing the hardships he had endured, but Jacqui found fulfillment in being a hero and protecting Earthrealm.

As with all characters in Mortal Kombat, Jacqui Briggs was also driven by revenge towards Quan Chi who possessed her father, and Ermac who ripped his arms during Mortal Kombat Tournament. In Mortal Kombat 11 she plays a major role as she is fighting side by side with her father Jax. The obvious thing that everyone can see is father-daughter relationship issues and a way of fighting as well as solving them together.  Also, it’s revealed through intros in dialog with Scoripo that she is engaged with Takeda. All in all, we can see the change that the creators put into this character as well as how did Jacqui change from MKX to MK 11. She is a strong independent female character that went from a fierce young kickboxer teen with daddy issues to becoming a US special forces sergeant and she fixed all of the daddy issues; now that’s a change that fans want to see. From this standpoint, it’s hard to say if we’ll be able to see her in Mortal Kombat 1 since it’s probably another reboot, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Powers and abilities

Since Jacqui Briggs is a Junior-grade Olympic boxer, so her fighting style revolves around powerful kicks and punches, like most of the girls from Mortal Kombat. Following her kickboxing career, she underwent training with the special forces, further enhancing her knowledge and experience. It’s no surprise that fans are eagerly anticipating an assessment of her electronic gauntlets. These formidable electronic gauntlets possessed by Jacqui greatly amplify her physical strength. Not only that, they can shoot plasma, shotgun rounds, machine gun rounds, and even rockets! In Mortal Kombat 11, she also acquires gauntlets for her legs, enabling her to deliver a chain of devastating kicks that truly kick some ass.
