For all our dear Guilty Gearers we’ve finally assembled the first and complete list of all Guilty Gear characters on the Internet. We’ve just included playable characters across all Guilt Gear games. That excludes Lucyna Kushinada, Unika, and other similar NPCs and no guest characters such as Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Characters in this guide will be arranged chronologically as they appear in the franchise. When I was a kid I saw other dudes playing it on PS1 back in the late 90s and I’ve been a fan ever since. If you’re a fan of games like Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur you’ve probably heard or played Guilty Gear, if you haven’t give it a try. Now let’s get Guilty!
Guilty Gear Characters since 1998 – Guilty Gear
Sol Badguy
We can’t start a Guilty Gear characters list without Sol Badguy a.k.a. Frederick Bulsara. He is the series’ main protagonist and one of the most powerful warriors in the game. In the past, he was a scientist working on a Gear Project that improved human life by healing all diseases. Since the story is set in the 22nd center, he’s more than 200 years old, and he eventually becomes a bounty hunter. His weapons are swords Fireseal, Junkyard Dog, and Outrage Mk.II; they’re all used to amplify fire magic. Yeah, just like in MK and Soul Calibur magic and science are mixed. Sol Badguy follows the fate of a lone wolf protagonist, who didn’t have luck getting married. If one sentence describes this guy it’s “Imagine just wanting to be a married man but you instead end up as an immortal anime protagonist”.
Ky Kiske
Ky Kiske is a deuteragonist and a rival to Sol Badguy. He’s something like Vegeta is to Goku or Sasuke to the Naruto. Unlike Sol, he’s more of a “better guy” in this story since he was a part of the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. The Order was created to defeat Gears and defend humanity. After finishing being a Crusader Ky Kiske joined the police force and got married to a Gear called Dizzy, with whom he got a son Sin Kiske. Now Ky is one of the strongest Guilty Gear characters and the reason is that he can manipulate electricity. In the GG universe, it is one of the hardest elements to master and he possesses wields called Thunderseal, Aquila, and Magnolia Éclair. Overall Ky has a great portfolio from an orphan to a knight, then Paladin king, and finally a loving husband and father.
May
Out of all Guilty Gear characters, this is one of the most courageous girls. May entered a Second Holy Order Selection Tournament just to free her captain Johnny. This was a bit of a ripoff from the Dragon Ball tournament as the winner gets a wish but May didn’t win since Sol defeated Gear commander. May is a part of Jellyfish Pirates a band of sky pirates who before mentioned Johnny raised her as an orphan. Her ultimate powers except her Superman strength that she uses to swing a giant ship anchor include summoning a dolphin, otter, and a killer whale. Two mysteries regarding May have haunted fans of the GG series. First one, how old is she and the second one when’s she going to admit and marry Johnny. May would best be described as a little Japanese girl carrying a big anchor.
Millia Rage
Millia Rage is yet another orphan who lost her family during the Crusades, after which she was taken and raised by the Assassins Guild. The leader at the time was Zato-ONE with whom Millia fell in love, just like May fell for Johnny. Millia Rage used the 6th Forbidden Spell from Arcanum, a book containing 666 different spells and only 6 are forbidden. This spell was about the manipulation user’s hair which is the source of Millia’s power. Eventually, she moves on from being an assassin and learns that happiness can be made along the way and that it’s in the small things. Millia from my experience is something like a Medusa in the Guilty Gear series, just with more self-consciousness and with a way better personality. From all Guilty Gear characters this one is from Russia…with love.
Zato-ONE – Eddie
Zato-1 was a part-time lover of Millia Rage after which he was obsessed with killing her; talking about abusive relationships. Just like his ex Zero also used a forbidden spell from Arcanum, just it was the 5th one. The spell was about sacrificing his sight to gain power and that got a shadow called Eddie. This gave Eddie manipulation over his shadow just like Millia got it with her hair. Over the years Zato went from being a badass assassin to becoming a member of the Post-War Administration Bureau and a recruiter. To be worse Millia his ex is the Executive director. Zato’s story is about redemption and the downfall from a great hitman to a government officer. Just saying but by the end of the Guilty Gear Strive Zato owns a bakery where Venom (assassin) is working.
Potemkin
A former democratic revolutionary turned slave and now serving as presidential guard for Zepp Armed Air Empire; that’s Potempkin in a nutshell. He has a limiter collar placed around his body since he was a slave so he can’t use all of his power. Pumpkin unlike other Guilty Gear characters doesn’t have a dark side except being just too strong for his good. He’s a calculated person and hates to fight. Can you imagine this, while looking at this Bane (DC) kind of character? This is a classical gentle giant persona who has some pretty nasty moves in the game. Potempkin has the heart of a lion and the hands of a healer. Just if you’re fighting this monster, the closer the better as his hands are so big and wide that he can hit you at a long distance more easily.
Chipp Zanuff
Chipp Zanuff is to ninjutsu what Tom Cruise was to The Last Samurai. Yup, you’ve got it right he’s the last non-Japanese person to be a ninja. Like most Guilt Gear characters he’s an American, but from Ohio. Chipp was a street rat, a drug dealer, and a user too, until he met Tsuyoshi who was a ninja and he made Chipp into who he is today. Since he’s a ninjutsu master he uses classical ninja arsenal like a gauntlet blade, kunai, and shurikens. Afterward, Chipp wanted to be a president and eventually created his country called the Eastern Chipp Kingdom which is located in southern Africa. Unfortunately, he isn’t as powerful as Kiske or Sol, but don’t get me wrong he’s not a guy to mess with. Chipp can be summed up as a huge fan of Japanese culture but is just a dumb American who knows almost nothing about it.
Dr. Baldhead – Faust
Ever since Dr. Baldhead lost one of his patients, he turned into a murderer, but eventually, when his sanity kicked back he put a paper bag over his head and called himself Faust. He’s one of the few unorthodox Guilty Gear characters in the franchise and overall fighting games. Faust possesses no other weapon than a scalpel which is pretty cool if you think about it, just the scalpel is the size of a spike. In the least enter GG-Strive- Faust’s creepier appearance was a big change, but fans liked it anyway. A Chinese ex-doctor turned murdered and lost his mind and then tried to save people again, that’s Dr. Baldhead/Faust in a nutshell.
Kliff Undersn
Sometimes spelled as Andersn is one of the key figures when it comes to the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. Kliff is their commander, a hero of the Crusades, and a mentor of Ky Kiske. Undersn personly introduced Sol Badguy into the order. A long time ago Badguy saved little Kliff when he was a kid as he grew older Kliff eventually became more stubborn and as strong as ten men. Kliff’s weapon of choice is a huge sword called Dragonslayer and he even defeated a five-headed Hydra. Eventually, he adopted Testament who would later betray him and try to free Justice. Kliff was killed by justice when they met for the 17th time. Probably one of the coolest elderly characters in fighting games and even reminds me of Genryūsai Yamamoto from Bleach.
Baiken
One of the survivors of Justice’s Godzila-like take on Japan is Baiken. Justice took everything from this character her family, right arm, and left eye. She wanted revenge upon That man and Justice, but when she met them, she didn’t stand a chance. In the end, there were two That Mans but Happy Chaos was the one that Baiken should’ve pursued. She resembles Guts from Berserk with a touch of Tsunada from Naruto. Baiken has a big arsenal of weapons aspects, from katana to her hidden weapons such as a rope, mattress, pistol, 3-fingered claw, and three big canons. Just like other Guilty Gear characters, she’s a real hero, but Baiken is a bit more like a Ghost of Tsushima time hero, as she’s protecting what’s left of Japanese people.
Axl Low
Axl is one of the few time-traveling Guilty Gear characters, but the first one to appear in the GG franchise. He was teleported just like Samurai Jack from the past somewhere in the 20th century into the future. He grew up in East London so he was a gang leader obviously but now he’s just a lone wolf finding his place under the sun. Axl’s weapon of choice is kusarigama or the dual chain sickle, and he can use fire magic too. Axl loves Megumi more than anything and wants to travel back in time to get back to her. At the end of the GG-Strive storyline, Axl reunites with Megumi following I-No’s revelation that she is Megumi’s future self and Axl is an alternate timeline version of William.
Testament
What do you think when someone mentions Switzerland? Chocolates? Watches? Gold? Banks? Meet one of the most unique Guilty Gear characters Testament. It’s neither a male nor a female just like a real Reaper, but a Gear. Testament’s weapon is of course nothing else but a scythe and can use blood magic. Other cool abilities are summoning Succubus and EXE Beast. It was found and raised by Kliff Undersn and allegedly died on one of Order’s missions. It turned out that Testament was captured by Nation A’s agents and they did gruesome experiments on it until Testament became a Gear. Testament has been living with Dizzy’s adoptive human parents since Dizzy got married to Ky Kiske. In one sentence it’s a hot but elegant Grim Reaper; every goth’s instant crush.
Justice
If you ever wanted to meet a magical monster in a mecha suit with unspeakable power, you’ve probably thought of Justice. Just as the name says it’s the first complete Gear and series main antagonist. Justice was the first Gear to have the will of its own and was a commander to all other Gears. Justice was the one who waged the Crusade and a 100-year war on humanity, but that was her second objective. The first objective was to enforce the Universal Will, which is to annihilate all forms of all that oppose it. It’s something like the Force from Star Wars, Sauron from LOTR, or The Great Old Ones from H.P. Lovecraft. Out of all the other evil Guilty Gear characters, this one reminds me of Freeza from Dragon Ball in its final most brutal form.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2000 – Guilty Gear X
Jam Kuradoberi
Ever wondered if Master Chefs can fight? Just imagine Gordon Ramsy fighting Giada De Laurentiis, that’d be fun. Most Guilty Gear Characters are some kind of monsters, mercenaries, and knights but our Jam is a beloved Chinese chef. She’s one of the rare characters who fights with bare knuckles. Just like the Pirates in Asterix and Obelix Jam’s businesses are always set back and she has to start all over. She’s one hellova chef who likes to spice things up, especially when she’s cooking for both Bridget and Ky. Anyway things didn’t work out for her well and she returned to her business for the 4th time in GG-Strive. Other than fighting with her fist she can wield Ki which gives her that sweet extra damage. In one sentence she’s a spicy cook with an unlucky love hook.
Johnny
Most Guilty Gear characters aren’t gamblers and womenizers, except for Johnny. He’s an adult version of Peter Pan, a leader of Jellyfish Pirates, and has a flying boat May Ship. Johnny has a specific taste in let’s say picking his crew members since they’re all girls. He finally married May in Guilty Gear-Strive- and besides being a pirate he’s a noble bandit too – taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Johnny’s weapon is a katana and his Iaidō sword style relies on quickly reacting by drawing the sword and countering attacks. Besides all of this Johnny is a loving and sweaty team leader, who’d do anything for any of his crew members if someone messes with them. In one sentence Robin Hood meets the adult version of Peter Pan.
Venom
I think that there isn’t a better bodyguard or sidekick to some extent such as Venom. Unlike Marvel’s Venom, this is also a kind of Zato’s symbiote, except it’s a symbiote and it’s just a person obsessed with protecting Zato. Venom was raised and trained by the Assassin Guild but he isn’t a huge fan of killing. Zato saved Venom from the Guild since they wanted to kill him for not obeying their command. That was the moment when Venom turned into the right hand of Zato whose sole purpose is to protect Zato at any cost. By this he means any cost, even if someone threatens Zato, Venom is there to finish them off. In one sentence he’s one of the rare guilty gear characters whose weapon is Pool Cue who eventually became a baker at the end of GG-Strive and he’s gay too.
Anji Mito
A male double to Mortal Kombat’s Kitana is Anji Mito. That’s because Anji’s weapons are Zassen or fans and he can control wind magic too. Anji escaped from the Colony and went on a quest to find That Man to find the answers. By the end of the GG-Strive- it was revealed that there was another That Man called Happy Chaos and he was Gear’s Makers former master. Since he has no home he lives in an abandoned Zoo cage. Besides Zassen Anji uses dancing moves to empower his fighting style, but it’s not like Tekken’s Eddy Gordo and Christie Monteiro. Anji Mito is an all-around character with not much of a history but an adventurer and wisdom gatherer as he says “he collects knowledge for the sake of it”. In one sentence less alluring Kitana without noble descent.
Dizzy
An angel named Dizzy who just happens to be a half-Gear is one of the most special Guilty Gear characters. Just her two wings have two distinct personalities and are called Necro and Undine. It’s like an angel and demon sitting on your shoulders, just these are Water Spirit and Grim Reaper. Her wings are capable of shapeshifting into other forms and even shapeshifting Dizzy. She’s the daughter of Justice the main antagonist of the GG series. That’s why Dizzy was the final boss of Guilty Gear X and she had a bounty of 500,000 World Dollars on her head. She even joined Johnny’s crew where she was doing some chores and cooking. At the end of GG-Strive- we saw her getting married to Ky Kyske and having a child with him named Sin.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2001- Guilty Gear Petit
Fanny
From the whole GG series, Fanny appears only in 2 games Guilty Gear Petit and its sequel, Guilty Gear Petit 2. I had to mention her since she’s a strange little nurse with a huge giant syringe. Fanny is connected to Dr. Baldhead as he cured her from a disease and she’s looking for him. After Fanny meets Faust in her last appearance in GG Petit 2, she hopes to find Dr. Baldhead one day. She’s one of the cutest Guilty Gear characters and we don’t know a lot about her. Her personality is lovely and she’s kind to everyone, besides that there isn’t much that we know about this character, but we’d like to see her comeback in the next GG game.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2002 – Guilty Gear XX
I-No
One of my favorite Guilty Gear characters is I-No the time-traveling rock’n roll witch. I-No’s weapon is Marlene her electric guitar and she has an interesting way of fighting by using music. She uses her guitars as a broom for flying and also as a weapon for slamming. I-No’s the one that saw a bad ending, so I believe she’s the true hero. Eventually, it was explained that I-No is a glitch in the matrix as the Backyard (something like a parallel universe like a virtual space) created her. Like the will for good was so strong that the universe had to give some hope and that was I-No. She was a boss in Guilty Gear X2. In one sentence she’s a sadistic badass sexy psychopath who’ll rock your world. In GG-Strive- it was revealed that I-No is Megumi, Axl Low’s girlfriend from the past.
Slayer
If you ever wanted to meet Nosferatus great great grandson you’re at the right place. Guilty Gear characters encompass vampires too called Nightless and their representative is none other than Slayer. Apart from sucking blood in his free time, Slayer has quite an altruistic view of the world and society. He’s constantly removing corrupt leaders and he’s the founder of Assassins Guild. Slayer’s always represented as a gentleman and he’s accompanied by his wife Sharon. Fans believed that he was the only vampire left in the GG universe until Nagoriyuki was released in Guilty Geat- Strive. Slayer doesn’t have any weapons and he’s just like all vampires super powerful and only a few GG characters can withstand his strength. He mostly cares about beauty, looks, or as he calls it “Dandyism”.
Bridget
One of the most important cultural characters because its identity was disputed for a long time. Finally in the latest game installment GG-Strive, Bridged identified as a trans woman. Bridged was always a rebel and since was born in an aristocratic English family. Bridged wanted to become a bounty hunter more than anything else to fight her village’s stereotypical ways. Bridget is wielding two weapons a yo-yo and a teddy bear called Roger. When Bridged was created it was a super cute character and it was just to contrast other more masculine characters in the story arch. In one sentence Bridge, we can say that you came out just fine in the Guilty Gear-Strive. Hopefully, in future games, we’re going to see more characters as identity is such a huge thing in gaming these days.
Zappa
Guilty Gear characters are so diverse that they even have a possessed character called Zappa. Probably one of the unlucky ones because of the screams and terrifying sounds that this man makes. Zappa is controlled mostly by his most violent spirit S-Ko and other ghosts such as three giant centipedes, several will-o-wisp-like ghosts that control a broken sword, three gloomy ghosts, a shady dog, and a lightning entity named Raou. Now in GG-Strive Zappa has changed a lot he’s not a possessed creepy jumping all around, performing back-breaking stunts. Zappa is now a regular guy who can manipulate evil spirits and use them to his advantage. He’s even got a job as a paranormal researcher in Illyria. In one sentence ex-Pazuzu-Sadako Yamamura victim turned Molder on steroids.
Robo-Ky
Just as the name says, yes it’s a robot clone or attemnt of a copy of Ky Kiske. The first ever robot appeared in Guilty Gear X Plus and it was created by a scientist Crow who was in the Post-War Administration Bureau. Its arsenal includes thin bladed sword called Thunderseal that amplifies his lighting magic. In the game, Robo was confused with a real Ky which was strange since the differences were too obvious. Robo-Ky is a hobo and a hired gun until it meets Venom and eventually fights Bedman. In this fight, it loses the body and is now just a head as it appears with Venom at the end of GG-Strive. Robo-Ky is revealed to be a hopeless romantic with an emphasis on the importance of having dreams. Unlike other Guilty Gear characters, this one has many versions including Robo-Ky Mk. II and Robo-Ky II.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2003 – Guilty Gear Isuka
A.B.A.
An abomination from an experiment with a shy grim is how A.B.A. is described in one sentence. A.B.A. She was raised in the remote mountains of Frasco but her creator is unknown, but it’s possibly Paracelsus. She’s probably every goth/anime lover kid’s femme fatale, as she’s an emo-goth zombie/shy anime type of girl. A.B.A. is an artificial life form known as a homunculus and once she escapes Frasco, she meets Flament Nagel who she names (probably after her creator). Paracelsus is A.B.A.’s companion, fighting partner, hesitant spouse, and a giant living demon-axe. It’s kinda cute, especially the way she drags him around since Paracelsus is her weapon. Her latest goal is to find a suitable body for her partner since it’s hard to date a key-shaped war age.
Leopaldon
No other Guilty Gear characters have probably been as inspired by Resident Evil as Leopaldon. It is a mix of ancient Gear, a dog Zepp, and a drummer sorcerer who’s controlling it. It just appeared in this game and no other so it’s kind of a bummer. Leopolond had a great design mix of the big white Gear which looks like a Resident Evil monster crossed with a shark that was by the looks of its teeth of British descent. The sorcerer is drumming all the time in hopes of reviving the dog and he’s a cute little guy with cute red eyes in a full black armored suit. While the dog has a weird gimp mask and it arises only after Leopoldon’s victory. Leopoldon is the final arcade boss of Guilty Gear Isuka and it’s arsenal is just amazing. It has laser eyes, and giant meatballs, and its whole body is indestructible, so you must only attract its head.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2006 – Guilty Gear Judgment
Judgment
Guilty gear characters include mad scientists but the maddest is probably Judgment. Formally known as Raymond he was working on an Isene island and in his words was only “doing God’s work”. As we all know that never goes well so Raymond plans to make creatures more powerful than Gear itself. Eventually, Raymond gets eaten by the dark lord of the underworld called Inus. After Inus is defeated, we meet Judgment a.k.a. Raymond, who uses defeated Inus to absorb all of his powers. Finally when Judgment was defeated both Inus and Raymond were gone for good. Judment had a badass appearance with black steel plates flying around him and he can use them telepathically or command them by hand to turn into a shield or a sword. He had one more power large energy sphere and he’s the only character who can block attacks.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2007 – Guilty Gear 2: Overture
Sin Kiske
By now we’ve mentioned that Ky Kiske and Dizzy had a son and that’s Sin Kiske. Unfortunately, Sin is a boy with some daddy issues since Kiske didn’t bring up his son since he had some other things to do; such as taking care of the United Kingdoms of Illyria. Sin is one of the rare Guilty Gear characters that were brought up and trained by Sol Badguy. He even calls Sol “old man” referring that he truly sees him more as a father figure rather than Kiske. His occupation is a bounty hunter and his main weapon is a war flag on a stick and he possesses lighting magic too. Sin inherited those lightning abilities from his parents. Sin Kiske possesses the power to summon his tribe units. In the end, he is half Gear and he’s only 5 years old, but he looks like he’s in his early 20s.
Valentine
Guilty Gear characters with 0 personality traits are called Valentines. Valentine is just one of many creations of the Universal Will from the Backyard, whose main purpose is to influence humans. Other than that Valentine doesn’t have much to say as she’s just since she’s more like a “blah, meh, so-so” type of a girl. Valentine understands that they’re just tools in the game that are meant to be used, they don’t care about that either. Valentine is a copy of a copy of Aria Hale but she’s also every goth lover’s instant crush. Her weapons are quite extraordinary like a ballon called Lucifero, she has Mind Control abilities and can summon Servants.
Izuna
Described by the fans Izuna is one of the forgotten Guilty Gear Characters. Izuna is Yokai and he’s helping Sol Badguy and Sin Kiske in battles. His weapon of choice is Katana and his magical ability is teleportation. If you’ve been sleeping in your GG classes, Yokai is a subgroup of magical creatures Magical Focai. Some other Magica Focai included Paracelsus and I-No you become a Magica Focai when a soul is bound to any random object. Since Izuna is from the Backyard and usually nothing good comes out of there, Izuna might just be one of the exceptions. Mortal Kombat 1 has done a reboot with Mortal Kombat 1, so we’ll be seeing a lot of old characters brought to life’ that’s what GG might do something similar and we might see Izuna again.
Raven
Just imagine a guy living for about a thousand years, immortal, right-hand, and one of three servants of that man; that’s Raven for you. He’s probably the oldest character in the Guilty Gear series and since he’s that old he got sick and tired of being alive. That’s why most fans will describe him as an empty but wise man you wouldn’t like to mess with. We’ve already mentioned his greatest power immortality besides that he can teleport too, and has four rights with needs that he uses as claws. By the end of Guilty Gear Xrd, he parted ways with Asuka (That Man) and told him that he’d like to be a storyteller, as he explained he sees it as a way of healing people. In GG-Strive- he was seen observing L’oro Di Illyria but nothing else is known.
Dr. Paradigm
Before we say anything about this character we’d like you just to know where he is from, Ohio. Unlike other Guilty Gear characters, he’s the one of few Gears that Justice couldn’t control since he was sealed. After Dr. Paradigm was released he helped Sol Badguy and Sin in Overture and is like Izuna one of the good guys. Now Dr. Paradigm has a bubble of water around him that makes it possible for him to breathe while on land. Dr. Paradigm used his books or knowledge to cast different spells such as green blasts and barricades that can protect against projectiles. He can also call upon his Assistant Bonnie to boost spells. In a nutshell, a Dragon/Golbin-like nerdy professor/mage from Ohio.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2014 – Guilty Gear Xrd
Answer
Do you know what you get when you mix a ninja with a businessman? You get an Answer. Probably one of the most underrated out of all Guilty Gear characters and Chipp Zanuff’s chief of security. The Answer was beaten down first by Chipp before he started working for him. He’s got some of the best combos since he’s using business cards as his weapon of choice and other than that he’s got photographic memory that’s why some people refer to Answer as a “Human Database”. In one sentence Answer is an ex-street crook turned Presidential Chief of Staff. In Guilty Gear – Strvie – Answear is now even a Chipp’s assistant.
Bedman
Bedman is one the most unique out of all other Guilty Gear Characters, mostly because of his bed and his “state”. Born as a smart boy his brain uses all of its energy so his body can’t keep thus he’s in an induced coma. Bedman has a sister Delilah and when he met Universal Will it promised that his dream world would be merged with the real world by creating an Absolute World. Probably the most interesting part about Bedman besides his name is his Reinforced High-Density Bed Frame. Besides the Bed Frame, he knows a lot of defense spells since he’s so smart and can remember anything. Eventually, he was killed by his condition, and in the newest installment, his sister Delilah took his place alongside the bedframe. In one sentence a disabled super nerd whose IQ is over 9000(!!!) got a cool intro into the Guilty Gear series.
Elphelt Valentine
Guilty Gear characters included two main Valentines and this is the second one. Apart from the evil Valentine, this one is different, like yin and yang, and has a sister Ramlethal. Elphelt is stubbornly positive and is just looking for a husband with whom she’d like to settle down. Her arsenal included a cannon, microphone, rifles, champagne, shotguns, guns, fruit-shaped grenades as well as a cake with a hidden blade inside. Apart from that she can even teleport but she can’t control this power to the fullest. Overall Elphelt Valneintne is an interesting character and as of events in Gulty Gear-Strive- she’s currently residing in Kiske Estate and she even formed a music band. Elphelt’s death metal band sings about love and is named after Bush Dog (scientific name Speothos Venaticus).
Jack-O’ Valentine
Some of the most famous crotching and spreading animations that you saw from the GG series probably came from Jack’O. Her name is a derivative of the real Jack’O Lantern since her whole theme is inspired by Halloween; she’s wearing a mask and needs a lot of candy to survive, really? She was created by That Man to stop Justice and that’s partly an explanation for the mask that she has to wear; her soul isn’t complete. Jack’O Valentine has a spilled personality between a grown-up woman and a kid. That’s not it since Jack’O like all Valentines is probably the best copy of Aria. Her primary weapon is a metal ball flail that she uses to shoot green beans of energy. White pumpkin houses is another ability, that she uses to summon servents to help her. In the aftermath of GG-Strive, we can see that she finally settled down with Sol.
Leo Whitefang
Guilty Gear characters have taken all of the cool monsters, hot witches, and blue-haired girls, but none of them features a hard-working man; that’s Leo Whitefang. One of three kings of the United Kingdoms of Illyria and an old friend of Ky Kiske. They have a relationship similar to that of Goku and Krillin. In one sentence Leo Whitefans is best described as a king of nothing or a king with no authority. He doesn’t have any impact on the world even if he governs more than 20 nations across Europe and Asia. Leo joined the Holy Order so he learned how to weald a twin sword and he is good at metal shaping magic spells. One of the most famous spells and strongest is Windrad des Weltraum; his swords turn into giant lion heads and they drill through the enemy. Some fans even call Leo “no brain, just muscles”.
Kum Haehyun
A female in a male’s body, sounds familiar? Just kidding, Kum is the fifth head of the Kum family and a great user of Ki energy. Since she’s a woman she can’t be the head of the family because of patriarchal rules so Haejyum builds a robot or a suit that looks like an anime version of Ironman Grandpa on steroids. She calls that exoskeleton Jeon Ryok Kum and her family has a rare ability of tuning ki and detecting it. Strange as it sounds Kum family members can detect differences in ki in the world and people too. Kum Haehyum is the only other guilty gear character apart from Johhny that uses ki to “tune” ki. Simply said she can strengthen hits using this technique, and also make the body stronger so it can take more damage (defense). Haehyun uses it to make ki balls, but not as cool as the ones from Dragon Ball.
Ramlethal Valentine
One of the strongest female Guilty Gear characters is Ramlethal Valentine an older sister of Elphelt Valentine. Ramlethal is one of those girls who are in a clash with the whole world and she’s a part of Universal Will’s evil deeds. She eventually steps into the light and joins the good guy and in the latest installment GG-Strive she’s a brigade commander at Illyria. Just like her sister as she changed sides so did she personally change too, from being a soulless robot to being a normal human. Her weapons other than kicks and punches include great swords, fire a beam of energy and she can create Lucifero just like the original Valentine. Her other abilities include levitation, flying, self-destruction, and control over her sister Elphelt who she can stop from fighting or using any of her powers but it’s vice versa.
Guilty Gear Characters since 2021 – Guilty Gear -Strive-
That Man – Asuka R. Kreutz – Asuka R♯
That man a.k.a. Asuka R, Kretuz is the main antagonist of the Guilty Gears series and the creator of Gears. Out of all Guilty Gear characters Asuka is just built differently. That Man was up until Guilty Gear -Strive the Scapegoat, but should be prosecuted for starting Crusades, creating Justice, and killing millions of innocent people. For the most part, Asuke is an anti-hero seeking redemption, which makes him a rather complex character. That Man is something else and in Strive he has a clone called Asuka R♯. In GG-Strive- he goes to his base on the Moon and now he’s a radio broadcaster, who has a grand plan to fix the world, once again. His weapons include all types of magic and spells are his main weapons. His main crew is made of Raven, Raven, and Jack-O Valentine.
Delilah – Bedman?
We’ve already talked about her brother Romeo F. Neumann(Bedman) and we mentioned his younger sister Delilah. Romeo as he was dying created a hole between the Absolute world and the real world and she also has the same condition as her brother (and bed too, lol.). Since she didn’t have a lot of friends she lacked basic social skills and any proper information about the real world. Bedman died trying to weaken Happy Chaos and that’s Delilah’s main goal, to have vengeance! Delilah doesn’t know how to control her powers, so she almost went nuclear once. Fortunately, her brother’s soul was kept inside the Bed Frame and he with the help of Jellyfish pirates, Baiken and Faust, managed to put things under control. Her main power is to make a magnetic field so large that can encompass a whole city.
Giovanna
One of the guilty gear characters who reminds me of a Shikamaru in a way is Giovanna. Don’t get me wrong they’re quite different, starting with the gender. Gio as fans like to call her is a laid-back gal who would just like to do three things until she retires, pet her dog, protect the president, and watch the clear blue sky full of clouds – that’s Gio in a nutshell, oh and has fun with cool hot guys too. Giovanna is a spec ops officer who is only dedicated to protecting the president. Her weapon is her spirit animal wolf called Rei who gives her superhuman abilities, like superhuman strength speed, reflexes, etc. This reminds me of Marshall BraveStarr has the strength of a Bear, ears of Wolf, etc. The main fan theory is that she’s a werewolf since we’ve already seen some vampires.
Goldlewis Dickinson
Goldlewis’s job as Secretary of Absolute Defense = SOAD (System of a Down) is just one of many musical references within the Guilty Gear series. Goldlewis Dickinson by some fan’s theories is a reference to Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden’s main singer. Dickinson’s one of the few guilty gear characters that’s obese and has a coffin as his main weapon. He’s obsessed with eating fast food, especially burgers and Dickinson’s weapon of choice is a coffin. His codename is Area 51 -U.M.A and Goldlewis’s main task is to tell people that aliens don’t exist, LMFAO. It’s just fun to see how the Japanese see Americans and their elected secretaries and leaders. In one sentence morbidly obese Mulder in Netflixes adaption of the anime TV series X-Filesu. Besides being a secretary he’s also the right hand of President Venom.
Happy Chaos
What Apocalymon was for Adventures of Digimon Happy Chaos is something like this. An overpowered supersecrative dark lord who was pulling strings all along and nobody knew about him. Apart from other guilty Gear characters, this was finally Illuminati confirmed in GG-Strive-. He’s referred to as The Father of all Magic as he discovered Backyard, Magic and created the Universal Will. Happy Chaos wasn’t always Happy nor Chaos he was just a man called The Original he was also Irish, who could say? Now all in all Happy Chaos has written a book called Tome of Origin which contains all the information from the Universe. Happy Chaos is an embodiment of one quote from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight – “You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain”.
Nagoriyuki
Guilty Gear Characters that are vampires have been raised by 100%, since GG-Strive- we have two of them. Blade-like characters such as Nagoriyuki are always welcome since being black, a samurai, and a vampire in one is super cool. Other than possession of a huge katana just which has blood-sucking powers he has a wakizashi. Nagoriuki is a bushido-style samurai warrior who honors and respects others. Although he was helping Happy Chaos attack the White House he happens to be on an airship, but it was all just because Happy made him do it. After Sol freed Nagoriyuki from Happy Chaoses control he became one of the good guys again. Nagoriyuki doesn’t just have the coolest design, but he’s a noble vampire samurai who’s seen meditating around town.
