Defeating endless hoards of bugs can be annoying and even tiresome after a while, but once you try one of these games, you’ll be reborn again. The games that we’ve picked for you are perfect just enough so you’ll eventually crawl back to your Helldivers nest. They’re engaging and fun; some may even be better, as the legend says. So let’s take one last Hell dive together and explore 7 games like Helldivers 2!

7. Earth Defense 5

Earth Defense Force 5 is a game like Helldivers 2

Back in 2017 when Earth Defense 5 was released and it was developed by Japanese video game company Sandlot. This wave-based arcade shooter will make you forget about Helldivers 2 for some time since it’s so immersive.  If you’ve seen it and thought it looks childish, it’s complex beneath the surface. The gameplay is similar to Helldivers as it requires a lot of planning if you want to progress. You can play the pretty solid campaign and you can play with up to 4 players online; there is a split-screen mode for 2 players. The game isn’t as polished and cool-looking as other games like Helldivers 2, but it’s worth your time. This is especially true if you’re a fan old school gaming.

6. Destiny 2: The Final Shape

One of the games like Helldivers is Destiny 2 for sure

This MMO first-person shooter was released in 2017 and it’s free to play, but it’s 2024, and new expansion is here. You can hear all about it over on Reddit and social media; fans are saying that it’s the best expansion that Bungie ever released. The story of Destiny 2 is pretty good and you can team up with up to 6 players like in a guild in WoW. Even though it has some major differences like it’s an MMO for starts, Destiny has most elements that games like Helldivers 2 need. Raids are amazing and there are tons of maps with giant hideous creatures swarming and creeping with just one goal to tear you apart. The only problem with the campaign is that you should play all previous games or watch a 2 hour YouTube video to see how this expansion pack ties in with the rest of the story.

5. GTFO

GTFO is a 4 player puzzle-solving horror game, developed by 10 Chambers. You’ve been assigned by a mysterious person called Warden to go through the maze of underground complexes. Since Helldivers 2 is a kinda horror game two, I’ve decided to put GTFO on the list. That’s not the only reason since it’s the mass shooting of humanoid monsters who are super scary and creepy. There is a chance from time to time to evade that but nah, what’s the fun in that? What’s great in the game is that there are no classes so everyone has access to all the weapons and tools. if you’re into intense team horror shooting games, GTFO is just the right one for you.

4.Aliens: Fireteam Elite

If there is any other creature more similar to Termids and other creatures it’s an Alien. Developed by Coldiron Studios in 2021 Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative 3rd person shooter. You’re playing as a colonial marine as always and the story is quite similar to all Alien games. Spaceship USS Endeavor receives a distress signal from planet  LV-895 and as you get there, you find out that the place is run by Xenomorphs. Your team can be made up of 3 players with whom you must fight hordes of ugly aliens. There is one problem that everyone is talking about and that is concerning classes. Long story short doctor class has underpowered weapons and the healing isn’t that great. In the end, the story is good, and corny military slogans are just what games like Helldivers 2 need; alongside giant bugs that need to be squished.

3. Remnant: From the Ashes

If you’re a fan of post-apocalyptic games with a Helldivers vibe Remnant is one you’re looking for. The game was developed by Gunfire Games, the studio that developed Darksiders games and Chronos. Actually, Chrono’s world is intertwined with Remnant’s world and there are many other parallel universes and dimensions that you can explore. What makes it like other games like Helldivers 2 fans will like is the amazing horde-shooting structure of the game. Even if the monsters aren’t always bugs they’re hideous mutants and horrific creatures, plus you have a black hole gun which is one of my favorites. Just like in Helldivers strategy is the key and teaming up is a must if you want to progress faster. There is a second installment of this franchise if you wanna try, but I think that you’ll be just fine with this one.

2. Starship Troopers: Extermination

Some call it the best horde-shooting game after Left 4 Dead and they’re not entirely wrong. If you think about it games like Helldivers were probably inspired by Starship Troopers movie franchise and the Alien franchise, or a mix of these. Starship Troopers: Extermination is developed by Offworld Industries and it’s a 16-player co-op FPS but it’ll be fully released this October 2024, for now it’s you can get early access. Killing arachnids, bugs, or aliens however you prefer is just part of everyday Troopers job. As you know you’re a trooper sent to a planet to fight off endless hoards of giant bugs. There are 3 classes that you can choose from Assault, Support, and Defense. Pretty simple game with some great potential, just hope that the full release will improve certain “bugs” so you can dive into another insect hell.

1. Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is out of all games like Helldivers the most similar one

Some of the main comments when it comes to games like Helldivers 2 is that Deep Rock Galactic is Helldivers just you’re mining things while shooting bugs. We’re pretty sure that Deep Rock Galactic is one of the best games out there with the same gameplay. In this game, you space dwarfs who are drinking, mining, and blasting bugs around the universe. The game was developed by Ghost Ship Games and it was released back in 2020. Just like in Helldivers 2, you’re employed by a company, only this is a mining company but don’t worry the humor is there too. Jokes and everything about the game is centered around how a cheat code from the old RTS game Warcraft III “greedisgood”. The company wants it all for itself and you’re just here to mine and shoot, sounds familiar? Since we’re miners ourselves and if you want to become one we’ve got a simple Deep Rock Galactic beginner guide.
